  What is the National Pastoral Initiative for Marriage?
  
  The National Pastoral Initiative for Marriage (NPIM) is a multi-year project of the U.S. Catholic Bishops aimed at communicating the meaning and value of married life for the Church and society. In the Initiative the bishops bring Catholic belief into dialogue with contemporary needs. They urge the Catholic Church to become a community of hope and help for marriages and to join others in building a culture of marriage. Weaving together the Catholic faith tradition and its pastoral practice, the data of social science, and the experience of married couples, the NPIM will offer guidance and resources, including a pastoral letter, in order to promote, strengthen, sustain, and restore marriages.
  
  
• 37th Annual Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass
  Sunday, October 12, 2008
  
  Holy Mass at 3 p.m. will be celebrated by Most Reverend Michael O. Jackels at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. A reception hosted by the diocesan Office of Family Life and Natural Family Planning will follow in the Cathedral gymnasium. A cordial invitation is extended to couples throughout the diocese celebrating 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 or more years of marriage in the year 2008.
